How to operate a taillift


Citroen taillift
  1. Vehicle should be stationery, hand brake applied and engine off. Turn the isolator switch on. Isolator switch can be found in the cab to the left of the steering wheel or to the side of the driver seat.
  2. Go to the back of the vehicle. Using the arrow switch move the lift upwards into a position to release the safety catch. Manually lower to a horizontal position. Use arrow switch to lower to floor.
  3. To fold away use the arrow switch to take the tail lift as high as it will go, manually lift to a vertical position to fit under the safety catch, then use the arrow switch to lower securely under the catch.
  4. Turn the isolator switch to OFF in the van cab.

Ford taillift
  1. Vehicle should be stationery, hand brake applied and engine off. Turn the isolator switch on. Isolator switch can be found in the cab to the side of the driver seat. When turned on this will make a noise constantly - this is normal.
  2. Go to the back of the vehicle. Using the arrow switch lower the lift to around half way down, you can then release the safety catch and the secure spike on the driver side. Manually lower the lift to a horizontal position. Use arrow switch to operate the lift up and down.
  3. To fold away, use the arrow switch to take the tail lift to half way, manually lift to a vertical position to secure the safety catch, then use the arrow switch to raise into the highest position.
  4. Turn the isolator switch to OFF in the van cab.

How to use a taillift safely

  • Ensure you have a 2m safe zone while operating the lift in a public area.
  • Only operate the tail lift in good light.
  • Ensure you do not overload the lift in excess of the 500kg maximum load, loading evenly or in the middle for single items.
  • Ensure you are wearing appropriate clothing and footwear to avoid slips and trips when standing on the platform (avoid loose clothing that could get caught in the equipment).
  • Never drive the van whilst the tail lift is in operation or unsecured.
