Insurance Criteria / Driving Licence Requirements

  • Drivers must be within the age group of between 21-75.
  • Drivers age 21-24 must purchase Young Driver Insurance and the standard policy excess is £1250.
  • Drivers age 75-78 are considered at the discretion of the insurer and may be subject to a higher standard excess.
  • Drivers must have held full driving licence held for a period of 12- 24 months.

Cancellation Policy

A hire booking may be cancelled, and refunded, or a credit note supplied, up to 48 hours prior to the start of the hire. Hires cancelled within 48 hours of the hire start time are non refundable. Any booking for 5 days or more, will be subject to a 25% cancellation fee, or payment non refundable within 48 hours of the start of the hire time.


Insurance Excess

All vehicle prices include Fully Comprehensive Insurance with up to £1000 excess as standard for drivers age 25 and over.
You can reduce this for added peace of mind.

Your chosen excess is payable immediately in the event of damage to, or theft of, a vehicle. Damage includes

  • Mechanical or body damage to any part of the vehicle
  • Damage to the interior cab / cargo area
  • Punctures / tyre / wheel damage
  • Missing accessories and parts
  • Damaged or missing keys
  • Mis-fuelling

Excess Cover is not available to drivers age 21-24, where the standard excess is up to £1250.
Excess Cover does not include: Loss of keys, misfuelling, missing accessories, driver error callouts, or careless /reckless use of a vehicle, or damage over 1.52m in height.


Administration fees and third party charges

Any hirer that incurs a charge whilst in control of a hire vehicle will be subject to a £25-£54 administration fee. Charges include, and are not limited to, penalty charge and parking charge notices, speeding offence notices and non payment notices for:

  • low emission zones
  • clean air zones
  • toll road / bridge / tunnels
  • road user charge zones.

If you are crossing the Tyne Tunnel please:

  • Pay for your crossing in advance or before midnight day after crossing using their website tt2.co.uk
  • Select you are travelling in a hire car.
  • Add the date and time of your first crossing.
  • Email us your proof of payment receipt when returning the van.

Excess soiling

We ask that any rubbish is removed prior to returning the vehicle. Any heavily soiled interiors will attract a valeting fee from £60 to cover the additional time we will spend bringing this vehicle back to a high standard.

Smoking of any kind, including e-cigarettes/vapes, is strictly prohibited in any of our hire vehicles. This is required to comply with legislation, but also ensures the cleanliness of our vehicles for the next driver. If evidence of smoking is found, the cost of specialist cleaning will charged at a minimum of £60


Travelling with pets

Pets are permitted to travel in our hire vehicles, please use a seat cover/ blanket where possible. We ask you ensure any pet hair and debris is removed prior to returning your vehicle to avoid a minimum cleaning fee of £60.


Refuelling vehicles

The fuel level of your hire vehicle is recorded at the point of handover. We ask hirers to return the vehicle with the same level of fuel in the tank. If we do need to refuel the vehicle we will charge the amount of fuel plus a £30 refuelling charge.


Late returns

Any vehicles returned more than 10 minutes late will be subject to additional half day charge which is payable upon request. If you need to extend your hire please call the office as soon as possible on 0191 378 2166.
